Elizabeth Macklin (2007)
I am in awe
of what I feel about you
if I let myself feel.
I have no argument with it.
I want to go on with this
marvel of not having
to disguise a thing:
I've gotten wise,
they used to say
in my parents' generation
in another style,
as wise moved along over time
getting smaller and smaller,
farther outside, and outsized.
Like the music I used to run from the room from
as soon as it started to wail from the hi-fi
before I was ever in love,
eager for the outside opinion.
Desires change over time,
and myself, I am in awe,
and disguise one thing.
